Privacy policy

The Science Discovery Group (SDG) is a non-profit making non-membership society providing regular talks on all aspects of science.

 

SDG is committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of visitors to this website. We do not sell, rent or trade email lists with other companies and businesses for marketing purposes. In this Privacy Policy, we provide information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.

 

The only data held about you is your name and email address that you have previously given us. This data is held by Mail Chimp an organisation frequently used by UK groups as a means of holding emails securely and using their software programmes to send out group flyers and emails. Only the SDG committee has access to the Mail Chimp list via password and verification code entry.

SDG has an Agreement with The Rocket Science Group LLC d/b/a MailChimp under which MailChimp agrees to protect the personal data provided to it by SDG. This Agreement incorporates a Data Processing Addendum under which MailChimp affirms its compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The revised regulation comes into effect from 25th May 2018.

MailChimp will not disclose your personal data to any other organisation. The site is password protected which means that none of your data is held on any personal computer belonging to the SDG committee.

 

When someone visits www.sciencediscoverygroup.co.uk we use MailChimp and Google Analytics and Visitor Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

 

If you do not wish to continue to receive emails about the SDG you can either unsubscribe at the bottom of the flyer / newsletter or email sciencediscoverygroup@gmail.com and we will remove your contact details from our lists and instruct MailChimp to delete your contact details.

 

Information about SDG talks and activities will still be available on our website and through adverts in local newspapers etc.
